Flying chariots....boot camp.....prison...... this tune struck a note. Hello Fishy, Man that was a good song. The last part about him dreaming of waking strapped down sounded a little like an ET encounter.

Hey Iz. Yeah, that's Steve Earle. He said sometimes he won't perform it because it is too emotionally intense for him. He actually does spend time with his uncles and such at Ellis Unit One. Hopefully one you or I will never have to experience. At least not any more. PS: Big Kahunies on the cab/motel issue.

This is one of my favorite songs at the moment so I figured it'd be post worthy. Since I can't embed the video (copyright) I'll just post the link and the lyrics.
When I step into the light my arms open wide When I step into the light my eyes searching wild Would you not like to be Sitting on top of the world with your legs hanging free Would you not like to be ok, ok, ok
When were walking by the water Splish splash me and you taking a bath When were walking by the water Come to my toes to my ankles to my head to my soul Then Im blown away
When were walking by the water Splish splash me and you taking a bath When were walking by the water Come to my toes to my ankles to my head to my soul Then Im blown away
I cant believe that we would lie in graves Wondering if we had spent our living days well I cant believe that we would lie in graves Wondering what we might of been I cant believe that we would lie in graves Wondering if we had spent our living days well I cant believe that we would lie in graves Wondering what we might of been
Would you not like to be Would you not like to be I cant believe that you would not like to be Would you not like to be
Ok, ok, ok, Ok, ok, ok, Ok, ok, ok, Ok, ok, ok,

i would suggest all music made by the bands: Tool, A Perfect Circle, Modest Mouse, Korn, Mudvayne, Nine Inch Nails. Now of course some has more meaning than others but thats really up to you to see or not to. All great bands you have listed!! I'd also recommend the following artists/bands to you (if someone hasn't already). All of them carry pretty deep messages: - Within Temptation * All of their songs! (The female vocalist sounds AMAZING! and the lyrics are profound. Beautiful band all around!) - Katatonia * They actually have a song entitled 'Sleeper' too! (What are the odds? lol) - Sigur Ros' * All songs. They are an Icelandic band, so unless you know Icelandic language (?) then you probably won't understand what the singer is even saying, but you can simply 'sense' the positive vibrations coming through him. Their music will enchant you and leave you on an elated high. - Novembre' * All songs. (Just wow. If you like Tool / APC / NIN, etc, then you should definitely like these guys.) That's all for now, but I love this idea. Positive music is a BEAUTIFUL influence on us.. but often so rare to find in such a negative world as this. Nice thread. - Mea

I've been all over the music world as far as influences over the years, but this song from pearl jam was always a favorite, but after coming over to the sleeper side it definitely feels more like home, oddly enough it revolves around gardening which is one of sleepers favorite past times! Anyhoo it is called "Cropduster", check out the lyrics, they totally mean a whole lot more than just another rock song...
Light green to green, dark green, brown.. Every life is falling down Brown to black, it's coming back Dies to be part of the ground Seed to seedling, root to stem
Eyes, no eyes, there's no difference,... Every life is looking in Swallowing seeds on the deathbed,... Dig a hole in,... the garden.
Everyone is practicing,... But this world's an accident. I was the fool because I thought
I thought the world Turns out the world thought me It's all the other way round We're upside down
Dad, he's gone up flames,.. But this ain't no movie This ain't no book you can close When the big lie hits your eye.
Everybody's practicing,.... Our world's an accident I was the fool because I thought
Let the fluency set it down. There's an upside of down.
The moon is rolling round the world.
So many pearl jam songs have a similar ring to them but in snippets, you have to read in between the lines

Good choice Izarith
Who would have thought the whole UFO/ET thing would turn out to be this personal ? man oh man oh man ....
Swallow your sleeper pills everyone ... It isn't easy, I know, because I'm still choking on mine.

If anyone hasn't checked it out at this point you should all listen to the seeker by the Who... It really does say it all. I have always been a fan of the song but damn if it didn't strike a new dimension of chords after the fact of reading sleepers posts. Seriously it makes me look at things so much differently than it already had!
I've looked under tables I've tried to find the key To fifty million fables
chorus: They call me The Seeker I've been searching low and high I won't get to get what I'm after Till the day I die
I asked Bobby Dylan I asked The Beatles I asked Timothy Leary But he couldn't help me either
chorus
People tend to hate me 'Cause I never smile As I ransack their homes They want to shake my hand
Focusing on nowhere Investigating miles I'm a seeker I'm a really desperate man
I won't get to get what I'm after Till the day I die
I learned how to raise my voice in anger Yeah, but look at my face, ain't this a smile? I'm happy when life's good And when it's bad I cry I've got values but I don't know how or why
I'm looking for me You're looking for you We're looking in at each other And we don't know what to do
chorus

It truly is a mad world out there sometimes. but we have to try and see past all the madness to get to the good stuff. The madness really is just an illusion. Speaking of madness, the film this song is from (Donnie Darko) is a bit mad, but it's cool in a trippy, weird, hard to understand kind of way.

That film is nothing short of brilliant and that song happens to be one of my favorites. If you haven't seen the Gary Jules video (instead of the Donnie Darko one) I suggest you check that one out -- always brings a smile to my face. Also, the sequel to this movie should be out sometime next year. Here's to hoping that it's at least half as good as this one. If you guys haven't seen the film, I suggest you watch the Director's Cut as it fills in some of the gaps from the theater version. Peace and Elbow Grease, Bigguy

Peace and Elbow Grease, Bigguy Hello Bigguy, I totally agree with you about the film, it's one of my favourites, that's why I posted the Donnie Darko video instead of the Gary Jules one, although I will check that one out on You Tube. I didn't know there was going to be a sequel out soon, I'm a bit puzzled, because didn't Donnie get squished at the end? Yep, It's a great film,I have the Director's cut on DVD, I've watched it about four times now, and just when I think I've completely understood it, something else occurs to me, and I'm back to square one again. Cool big scary bunny too. ;D Edit to add: I just realised, I have spoilt the ending of the film for anyone who hasn't seen it...ooops.

Hey Eevee and all, You totally didn't spoil the ending only half of it. ;D Most people that watch the film the first time are always kind of guessing what it is about, I think when I saw it in the cinema there were only four other people including my friend and meself. But yeah definitely in my top ten! -willy42
