Wow they actually made a Gnostic connection to the film cool. I do have to say that the comic book geek lady with the bright blue eyes has a very confined view of Gnosticism. She sounds dumb when she talks about it. First of all, gnosticism is not a religion it's religion's opposite really. Second believe it or not gnosticism has to be preached before you can start to really understand it, another opposed feature vs religion. Third there is no failing when it comes to gnosticism. There is no good and bad there is only the choice and being aware of why you made the choice. Everyone else is asleep if they don't make the choice to understand the choices they made. Once you do this you will begin to see the divine spark within you, which inevitably leads you to see the divine in all others. The whole knowledge part is just a marker for your progress. That is to say your level of ignorance toward your choices and why you made them does not impede your ability to attempt to learn. Only the choice to remain asleep prevents you from gaining knowledge of who you are. Everything is a gospel when it comes to Gnosticism. A comic book, a novel, a coupon in the newspaper. If it was thought up by the human mind then really what you are reading is the divine spark of the nameless no matter how ignorant this divine entity is of it's own divinity. or rather what your mind makes of it is what is divine, the words themselves are dead letters on dead paper. The holy spirit has to be asked for, this spirit is common sense. Between the holy spirit and your soul is your mind. That's the Gnostic trinity. You use those three to discover who you are either spiritual or materialistic there is no wrong choice but one of the two does go on for a tad bit longer. ;D

Hi noface very interesting.but as far as what's real or not, one thing's for sure I've had raging toothache all weekend, upper left molar and that's real enough for me,but the dark glasses are cool. ;D Some of the thought experiments put forth in this is the idea that if the steak isn't real, then maybe the tooth ache from eating it isn't either. How can the pain and pleasure they experience be actually happening to them? Maybe it isn't happening to them at all if they could see things as they really are. It is the "belief" that they "are" all that happens to them that is the source of their ignorance and their bondage. On the other hand, ideas are fleeting when pain is doing its thing. Imagine those buddhists monks being tortured by the chinese in Tibet for years and not renouncing their religion. That's integrity.
